Why we write

The Bountiful Path offers essays from the coast of Maine on medicine, art, and the turning seasons. Written by Dr. Lisa Belisle, a family physician, writer, and host of Radio Maine.

The writing moves through several recurring forms: Books on the Boat, reflections on what’s worth reading from a Littlejohn Island perspective; Medicine, essays from three decades of clinical practice; Leadership, on what it takes to hold steady work over time; On the Air, conversations and field notes from Radio Maine; Art, in collaboration with The Portland Art Gallery; and Essays, the longer personal work, including drafts from a memoir in progress.
